Seven ladies were honored along with their Coach, Annette Guinn. Ball players Kelsi Debord, Gabby McGinnis, Riley Lair, Abigail Heatherly, Peri Guinn, Sidney Vaughn, and Carly McFarland have played together for three years. Some of them will continue playing basketball later this year at the high school level and others will go on to other sports and activities. The WCMS Lady Cards closed out their winning season on Thursday night with a record of 7 wins and 6 loses

The Wayne County Marching Band students are into their competition season this fall having had several recent successes. On September 17, they received a first place in their class at the North Laurel competition. More recently, they followed that up at Pulaski County where they placed second in their class.

   The Wayne County Lady Cardinals Volleyball team was back in action on Tuesday September 20 for a District game against the Lady Raiders from McCreary Central High School.  The Freshman team played first and won in a close two set match.  The J.V. team played next and won both their sets as well.

Five Wayne County High School art students won recognition at the recent student art contest sponsored by the 9th District GFWC-Kentucky meeting hosted by the Monticello Woman's Club.  Katelyn Buswell received first prize for her painting, second place winner was a painting by Sanali Upchurch, and third place winner was a painting by Kristina Famulyak.  In addition, Amelia Dishman and Scarlet Guffey both received certificates of appreciation for their paintings.  Monticello Woman's Club congratulates these talented students for their unique art and hope to see more in the future.

  The Wayne County Schools Casting Cards just completed their first fishing tournament of the season.  Several members of the team placed on September 17th at the Lake Cumberland Tournament.

Since 2011 the Wayne County FFA and the Wayne Extension office have collaborated in holding an annual local garden field day for the community.
