High Attendance Day set for Tuesday, September 17th Wayne County Director of Pupil Personnel Stewart York presented Wayne County Middle School Principal Melissa Gossage with a certificate as a regional winner

All kinds of special events are being planned at the local schools to highlight the importance of good attendance. Students need to make sure they are at school on Tuesday, September 17th in order to participate and benefit from unique and clever learning opportunities, not to mention some funny happenings. Last year the WCMS was honored after winning the regional award for highest attendance.

Talk about Walking the Walk 5 miler

Wayne County’s 37th Annual Lake Cumberland 5 Miler – 5K – 1Mile Fun Run held August 31st included more than just the usual group of walking and running enthusiasts interested in logging a few miles with friends to start their fall running season and help raise a few dollars for the school Cross Country and Track Program in the meantime.  

Students and staff encouraged to participate in 37th Annual Lake Cumberland 5 Miler - 5K - 1 Mile Fun Run Corporal Matthew Bradford competing

Wayne County Athletic Director Kevin Jones invites the community to support the event and run with celebrity visitor Corporal Matthew Bradford, the first blinded amputee in history to re-enlist in the Marine Corps. The retired marine spoke at Mill Springs Christian Church last Sunday and will be returning for the run at 8 a.m. Saturday, August 31st. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. The Cross Country Program coordinates this run and is excited to welcome Corporal Bradford.
