The Kentucky Broadband Initiative is a network of public and private partners working to expand internet access and build a stronger digital infrastructure in rural communities across Kentucky. We are asking everyone to please go to this website and complete an internet speed test.  This data will help locate areas in the county that have slow internet speeds or none at all.  The Kentucky Broadband Initiative can provide funds to our community to build better internet access for students and families

Sign up for 21st Century Summer School Programming 21st Century Director Katherine Kidd

Wayne County's 21st Century Program will be providing summer camp from June 7-July 2. Parents, if your child wants to participate and needs transportation, you will have until this Friday, May 14th to get their application turned in. Student applications turned in after the 14th will not be eligible for transportation. Be sure and register for Summer Camp because slots are limited. Applications must be recovered by Friday, May 21st in order to be processed.  

Parents respond to Supplemental School Year Program Survey WC logo

Wayne County Schools have received 117 parent requests to participate in the Supplemental School Year Program (SSYP) created by Kentucky Senate Bill 128. This legislation was passed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and allows any K-12 students to use the 2021-2022 school year as a supplemental year to retake or supplement courses the student has already taken.

Cobb employees presented assemblies to Bell Elementary students giving an overview of the local hatchery operations. The students were delighted with the program and could not wait to get a close up view of the baby chicks they brought to school. The Cobb employees never committed on which came first....the chicken or the egg.  

Child Plus Fair reaches 85 young children headed to Walker Early Learning Center in fall Monticello Elementary student Emily Gregory enjoyed hanging out with Clifford the Dog

Wayne County Schools were well represented at the annual Child Plus Fair on Saturday, May 1. Families learned about school opportunities, enrollment, and a variety of services available to youngsters in the community. Wayne County Schools Family Resource Center Directors Leslie Randall and Kendra Patton co-chaired the event which was held outdoors this year at Memorial Park. There were 73 families who brought incoming preschoolers and 12 incoming kindergarten students. During the previous Lil Cardinal Academy Drive-Through event, 38 students enrolled.  

Bell Elementary "Plant the Seeds of Learning" Drive Thru Family Learning Night was fun for students Cardinal at Bell Drive-Thru

Bell Elementary students were tickled to receive goodie bags filled with a book, seeds, math games/manipulatives, reading games/manipulatives, and a pizza kit from the food service program at the Drive-Thru literacy event. The local 4-H program also gave out goodies for the young children. It was a popular night on April 22 when families visited from their vehicles.
