Cardinals Digging for a Championship

By: Hayley Gearding

The reigning 12th region volleyball champions are back in action as they begin their new season hoping to bring home another title. The loss of six seniors will make the road difficult, but young talent coming up could spark another title run. Head coach, Sandra Baker, says she believes the girls have the capability and talent but heart and desire is what will bring home the title.

The coach is very confident in her players this year.

“This group has played together for a long time and had success. I believe once we find our groove and rhythm we will continue and build on our success from last year,” Baker said.

The Cardinals graduated their starting players making the start of the season difficult as they look for new starters.

“Spots will be earned by who works the hardest and which group works the best together,” Baker added.

Wayne County Volleyball will continue to train during the summer months.  They will play their first game of the 2014-2015 season on August 18th at North Laurel.
