Two Wayne County Teams placed in the Kentucky Bass Federation State Tournament

Two Wayne County teams placed in the Kentucky Bass Federation State Tournament held October 19-20

        The Kentucky Bass Federation held their state tournament on October 19-20 out of Conley Bottom and two teams from Wayne County placed. 

        Kason Stockton and Jonathan Gregory won first place in the High School (SAF) Division and Hannah Kempton and Jenna Morrow won second place in the Youth Division and won the Points of the Year in the Youth Division.

        Jonathan Gregory also won Big Fish of the tournament with a bass weighing 4.17.

        The first place team of Kason Stockton and Jonathan Gregory also won a new TBF rod, Frogg Toggs rainsuit D & L Tackle and a Special Made 2019 KBF State Championship lure.

        Gregory won a Lews reel for winning the Big Fish of the tournament.

        Youth teams and high school teams must qualify in order to fish in the state tournament. There have been over 30 schools across the state of Kentucky to participate and over 150 teams participated in this 2019 event.

        Teams receive points throughout the year based on tournaments fished and how they placed in the tournament. Points determine if you qualify to fish in the state tournament.

        The Kentucky Bass Federation held 14 high school (SAF) tournament and 10 youth tournaments across the state of Kentucky in 2019. For more information on the Kentucky Bass Federation High School/Youth tournaments contact Youth Director Ricky Kempton at (606) 307-7401.

        High school and youth anglers were treated to a banquet held on October 18 with guest speaker UK Fishing Coach Tommy Hall.
