The Wayne County Cardinals were unable to finish the game against the Admirals of Danville on Friday September 27th. Wayne County came out on fire scoring two touchdowns within the first quarter. The Wayne County Football team felt pretty good going into the second quarter. Then about three minutes into the second quarter an official spotted lightning in the distance. KHSAA protocol for an event like this is to have the players on the field go back into their locker rooms and wait at least 30 minutes before coming back onto the field. Well 30 minutes passed and lightning had struck again, this cycle continued for multiple hours. It got to the point where both teams had decided to just call off the game. This meant that all of the stats that happened during the first quarter and part of the second quarter would not be recorded. As of today it is like the beginning of this rivalry game never happened. This game will not be rescheduled and will not go on either teams record as a game that was played.
