Board of Education approves favorable audit report

       Wayne County Board of Education approved the 2020-21 financial audit report that was presented by White and Associates, PSC, while also approving several payments for various renovation projects.

       The auditor presented the report to the board with several compliments regarding the district staff members who assisted them. He also remarked that the schools had done a lot in spite of the pandemic. He said the food service department showed very good financial stability.

       Several payments were approved for the Monticello Elementary Renovation Project which included:

       *Approval of pay application #18 for the Monticello Elementary Renovation Project in the amount of $43,426.55.

        *Approval to pay an invoice to Deco Architects, Inc. in the amount of $3,085.08 for professional services.

          *Approval of change orders #49, 50, and 51.

           *Approved three BG4 Forms (Project Closeout Documents).

          The board is also working on other upgrades to the campus with the help of stimulus funds, in regard to the high school gymnasium and a new Walker Early Learning Center. The new preschool-kindergarten building will be located where the former Turner Intermediate School building sits.

           *Approved payment to Deco Architects, Inc in the amount of $24,135.15 for professional services for the Wayne County Early Learning Center Project. A representative from the firm shared initial plans for a two story building.

             *Approved a corrected BGI form for the WCHS Gym Indoor Air Quality Improvement Project.

              *Approved a contract with Codell Construction Company for Construction Management Services for the WCHS Gym Indoor Air Quality Improvement Project. The work on this project will be guided through federal government regulations.

               In other business:

                 *Approval to pay alt32 Architects $3,675 for professional services relating to the Wayne County Track and Soccer Field.

                *Approved installation of wall panels to be placed above the Wayne County High School Library/Office area to prevent water leaks.

                 *Approved a School Facilities Construction Commission Offer of Assistance for $25,556.

                  *Awarded bids for previously declared surplus property (saws, welders, sander, grinder, and boilers).

                   *Declared Child Nutrition Department Equipment, a small house trailer used for storage, and a set of lockers surplus property.

                   *Declared Bus #174 as salvage property.

                    *Approved the consent items.
