Wayne County America Rescue Plan (ARP)

As part of the Wayne County America Rescue Plan (ARP), Wayne County Schools received $10,915,362 to be spent from March 24, 2021 - September 30, 2024.  The district has been busy planning and consulting with stakeholders the last few months on the best way to utilize these funds to maximize benefits for students now and in the future.

The plan has several components.  The first expense was purchasing prevention materials, such as masks, hand sanitizer and disinfectants.  Secondly, funds are being used to respond to the learning loss.  While many students thrived last year with virtual learning, an equal if not larger number struggled with it.  In order to help, the district has added additional staff for the 2021-22 school year to reduce the student to teacher ratio.  The district has also expanded its after school and summer school opportunities to respond to the learning loss that may have occurred.  Thirdly, the district is utilizing the funds to purchase printed instructional resources and instructional technology.

Finally, to deal with space for physical distancing and ventilation the district will be providing upgrades in HVAC systems and/or constructing additional classroom space.
