Wayne County High School in-person Seniors appreciated welcome back to school goodie bags

FRC Director Audra Branscum handed out a senior bag

Wayne County High School Seniors were welcomed back to classes recently with goodie bags filled with all kinds of Cardinal themed gifts. Family Resource Center Director Audra Branscum packed the bags and handed them out to seniors. The staff have worried about the seniors since they have missed the majority of their in-person classes and events, due to the pandemic. They were especially sympathetic towards the students in their classes, since they know so many look forward to enjoying their senior year.

So, in that spirit, while working within the Covid Safety Guidelines, several upcoming events are in the process of being planned. They will have a Junior/Senior Prom at Richardson's Farms on May 8th with the juniors attending from 6-8:00 p.m. and seniors from 8:30-10:30 p.m. A graduation ceremony observing safety guidelines will be held, however the date has yet to be set. Parents are currently meeting on a Project Graduation committee. On March 25, seniors can pick up orders for invitations, jewelry, or make last minute orders for cap n' gowns from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. The cap n' gowns will be delivered to the high school in mid May, rather than mailed to students' homes.  On March 29th, the high school will be having an in-person Western Kentucky University application assistance workshop from 10:30-1:00 p.m. in the library. The high school is also taking part in a KDE initiative called text4college.

On Fridays, students have been encouraged all school year to drop by the high school for tutoring so they can catch up on any missed work.

In addition, the WC ATC will be offering students after school hours towards catching up on hands-on learning opportunities, while improving grades for their ATC course(s) for this school year. ATC students will be able to work towards completing industry certification tests, as well. Teachers will be announcing times between Monday, April 12 and Saturday, May 1. Specific schedules from teachers during weekday hours  from 4:30-6:30 and Saturday hours  from 9:00-2:00 p.m. are being announced by instructors for each available in-person remediation session.
