There is a lot going on at Walker Early Learning Center on the Wayne County Schools campus. On Wednesday (August 5), preschool teachers conducted the final DIAL 4 Screenings to help customize learning for each child’s introductory year to school.

On Thursday (Aug 6) and Friday (Aug 7), the staff are participating in a workshop called Pyramid Training – a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support that bridge academics with behavior. They will also revisit their Fish Philosophy which includes: social rules regarding personal space, finding joy through tasks, selecting your attitude, and serving others. The staff will view the training in their classrooms, so they will be practicing social distancing during the workshop.

Parents of kindergarten students can expect to receive a phone call from the school as teachers begin calling their students’ homes to schedule appointments for kindergarten orientation set for August 17 and 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day. Preschool orientation will be held August 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
