Lady Cards Destroy Danville

Wayne County Girls Basketball came to play when they beat Danville 66-41 on January 4th, 2020. The Danville Admirals were ranked 3rd in the region going into the game and were heavy favorites to win. The Lady Cards of Wayne County did not care about who was favored and who was not, they came to play ball. Wayne County came out hot in the first quarter by scoring 21 points and was able to hold Danville to just 8 points. Just before halftime, the score was 36-20 and Wayne County was still winning. After halftime, Danville was trying to come back as they were able to cut the lead down to 14 just before the fourth quarter. The score after the third quarter was 45-31 with Wayne County still holding on to the lead. In the fourth quarter, Wayne County was able to extend their lead while only allowing Danville to score a total of 10 points in that quarter. The final score was 66-41 and Wayne County was victorious over Danville. The leading scorer for Wayne was Macey Blevins, she had scored a total of 24 points. Mallory Campbell lead the team in rebounds by having 13 total rebounds. This is a big win for the Lady Cards and will only fuel the fire for the girls that play. Their next game will be at Adair County this friday January 10th, 2020. Go Lady Cards!!
