Wayne County Senior Clarinet musician Halen Pharis has distinguished himself in the concert band field as an All State student.
Congratulations to Halen Pharis who was named to the second top band in the state and will be seated 3rd chair clarinet in Concert Band. He will perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association conference in February of 2020.
Halen is the first Wayne County musician to be named to this top Kentucky music honor since 2009’s Kinly Bertram.
Halen fellow WCHS band members - Evan Taylor and David Holt - all auditioned on Saturday, December 14th, for a place in the state’s top three distinguished bands.
“They all had wonderful auditions and faired very well with hundreds of other student musicians from around the Commonwealth,” said WCHS Assistant Band Director Tyler Cook.
Halen Pharis auditioned on Clarinet, while Evan Taylor auditioned on Timpani and
David Holt auditioned on Tuba.
“These students are applauded for their efforts to prepare such a tedious audition and for representing Wayne County in the largest representation in All State auditions to date,” noted Cook.
