The University of Kentucky and the Wayne County Cooperative Extension Services Office joined Wayne County Elementary Schools in promoting a special mascot recently.
The Extension Service worked very hard with Wayne County’s cafeteria workers on a very important nutrition message. Wally Cat traveled to all the elementary schools, leading up to the Homecoming game, with a message, “Eat Smart – Play Hard”. All of the elementary students were given a pencil with the same message.
“I’m sure Coach Thompson would agree with this message, “Eat Smart – Play Hard” because he wants his football players to play their best this season, and he knows that means, eating smart,” said Nutrition Services Director Kathryn Tucker.
At the end of the halftime program at the recent football game, miniature footballs were thrown out into the crowd with the message – “Eat Smart – Play Hard!”
