Luke Vickery named UK Rising Scholar

Rising Scholar Emblem

Wayne County High School is pleased to announce that Luke Vickery was selected as a University of Kentucky Rising Scholar. He represented Wayne County amongst 126 high school students this past summer.

One rising junior student from each school district was nominated and invited to attend the program held at the University of Kentucky’s new Gatton Student Center on campus. Participants were given campus tours of various college departments and housing. At the ceremony, students received a special certificate of recognition, UK Rising scholars pin, UK personal journal, and a UK poster.

Luke particularly enjoyed the personalized tour of the new state of the art Jacobs Arts and Science Building. In addition, he was very interested in the presentation by the director of the Lewis Honors College. Honors students live on campus in separate housing, attend many of their classes in the same building that houses their dorms and are given class scheduling priority.
