The Wayne County Middle School held a pep rally on February 8th. The purpose of this exciting rally was to get students hyped up for the upcoming State Tournament that the school’s Boys Basketball team was headed to. During this rally, Leadership Academy Coordinator Jason Kennett took to the court with a mic in hand and got the school going with the school song.
Other achievements were honored as well during the assembly. The cheer team and dance team, who were also headed to state tournaments, came to the court to receive encouragement from their teammates and perform their routines. Wrestlers present were honored: Bailey Jones, state runner-up; Zachary Welch, sixth place, and Cody Burris, state runner-up. Jacob Haynes was also brought out to receive recognition for placing second in the Academic Team Social Studies and Science written assessment.
The students enjoyed the energy of the day’s pep rally and gave their fellow students and teammates plenty of encouragement. Songs performed by the band as well as performances by the teams present brightened the day of everyone in attendance, and the student body can be sure that those who went to compete at state performed their best and had their school cheering for them back home.
