A seven-year-old boy in Wayne County has a collection of police badges and dreams of getting his own when he joins the police force one day.
Since before Tucker Kennedy can remember, he’s had a big dream. “He always told me he wanted to take the bad guys to jail,” said Courtney Kennedy, Tucker’s mom.
He wants to follow in his father’s footsteps. Tucker’s dad worked as a guard for the Wayne County Detention Center.
“I’m not going to guard them. I want to take them to jail, and if my dad were still alive, I would help him,” said Tucker.
Brian Kennedy passed away last month, leaving behind a wife and three children, luckily, his brothers and sisters in blue have stepped up to keep an eye on the family and help Tucker with his special collection.
For a little more than a year now, Tucker’s been collecting police badges. He has almost 200 already, but he has a goal of getting at least one from every state. His hobby has the entire family involved.
“We’ve had the local police and we’ve had police from far away come here to the house to deliver,” said Courtney.
If you can’t hand deliver the badges, Tucker is always excited to get a package. Packages can be delivered to their house or to his school at Bell Elementary.
