Another Friday night and another win for the now 9-1 Wayne County Cardinal football team. They defeated a top 5 5A opponent Madison Southern 24-14. Lorenzo Linsey led the way with 2 passing TD’s (one to Aubrey Weaver, one to Brett Massengale) and 1 rushing TD. Riley Woods was on point, making 3 extra points and 1 FG. The Cardinal defense was anchored in once again, holding Southern’s offense to 7 points. With this win, the Cards remain #1 in class 4A and look forward to the playoffs now.
They will face Louisville Valley at home, Friday November 3rd at 7:30 for the first round of the state playoffs. Good luck to the Football team! Go Cards!

Friday night Mr. Joe M. Shearer was recognized for his dedication to Wayne County athletics and the school district. He has been a proud supporter, administrator, coordinator, parentm and fan for nearly 6 decades. Joe has been instrumental in building projects, administration of games, and many, many other things Wayne County. Thank you to Mr. Shearer for his contributions to our school.
