Hi! Welcome to my Reading Intervention website! Here you will find important information about our 4th and 5th grade reading intervention program at Monticello Elementary. I will be working with children who are struggling readers in these grades. Finally, I will place links to important resources for you and your child to work on together to help with his/her reading struggles!

About Me

To begin, I was born and raised right here in Wayne County in the Fall Creek community.  I enjoyed being a farm girl and helping my dad and grandpa on the farm.  In 1989, I graduated from Wayne County High School, so I have always been a cardinal!

It was not easy for me to leave my home, but I packed up  and moved to Lindsey Wilson College to further my education and make my dream of becoming a teacher, a reality.  In 1993, I graduated and came back home to seek employment as an educator.  So, in August of 1993, I was hired as an instructional assistant.  Everyone has to start somewhere.

God took care of me as He always has, and I replaced a teacher who moved on to a different job, in November of that same year.  I loved being in the classroom with children right from the beginning.  In 1995, I married my childhood sweetheart, Thomas Pyles.  Then, I went on to get my Masters Degree in Elementary Education at Eastern Kentucky University and then on to get my Rank I in Elementary Education at Union College.

Being a teacher became even more special to me when my daughter, Hallie Elizabeth, was born in 2003.  She is the greatest blessing I have ever been granted.  My journey has not always been easy, teaching has changed a lot, and many years have passed since I walked into my first classroom.  However, my love of children hasn't changed.  With each new year, I am excited to meet the children I will spend my year teaching and  getting to know.
