Rock Your Socks on World Down Syndrome Day 3.21

 Down Syndrome

Wayne County Schools will again participate in "Rock Your Socks" for World Down Syndrome Awareness Day this year on Thursday, March 21. To participate, simply wear "crazy" or mismatched socks. If desired, take a picture and post it on Facebook or other social medias. This day is set aside worldwide to raise awareness and to advocate for those who have Down Syndrome and for those who love them.

Thursday, in conjunction with "Rock Your Socks" day during lunch at Wayne County High School, there will be a respectful campaign to teach students about the impact on harmful words to others. This is an opportunity to remind each other that everybody has differences. We should respect everyone and value what they can add to an environment. There will be a banner in the lunchroom for students to sign that says they will respect others unique qualities.
