Wayne County Food Service is excited about "Let's Move with Summer Food"

Summer Food Program

Wayne County Food Service Department is excited about Let’s Move with Summer Food as they begin preparing for the 2018 Summer Food Service Program.  The tentative calendar will be June 4-July 20, 2018 where children and youth 18-years and younger eat free.

If you would like to partner with the school system by having a site, please complete the information below and return it to Wayne County Board of Education, 1025 S. Main St, Monticello, Kentucky. The site needs to be active for at least four days.

Training is required and scheduled on Thursday, May 17 at 1:30 PM in the Wayne County School Board Annex Conference Room. If unable to attend the training, please let Food Service Director Karen Gibson know by contacting her at 340-8684.

Remember, if you have a youth activity whereby meals are needed, please consider the summer food program.  Meals are produced at the Wayne County Middle School cafeteria.

Please complete the information below and return by April 27th because the food service department needs to get your site approved with their state agency, Kentucky Department of Education.

“Please contact us with any questions or concerns. Our mobile Lunchbox Express will also be running its routes and delivery this summer,” noted Gibson.

This summer meal program is very important because many local children may not regularly receive nutritious meals in the summer months when school is not in session. During the school year, all local students receive a free breakfast and lunch at Wayne County Schools.

“Later, we will be posting our availability of open sites so you can be more informed and please pass it on so we can feed as many children as possible this summer,” concluded Gibson.
