Congratulations to Monticello Elementary Archery Team’s performance at Region 10 Tournament.
A first for the Monticello Elementary Team happened recently during a peak team performance at the 2018 KY NASP Region 10 Tournament held at Lincoln County.
Monticello Elementary archers placed third out of 14 elementary teams competing all day on February 10th. Nancy Elementary placed first with a score of 3038, followed by Shopville Elementary in second with a score of 2981 and Monticello Elementary just a few points behind at 2898.
Wayne County Archery Coach Forrest Shelton said he was very proud of the elementary team because the elementary teams typically do not place at that level. “Our elementary team did a great job.”
In the individual categories, Monticello Elementary Archer Quinton Abbott placed fourth in the Individual Elementary Male division. Wayne County High School Archer Taylor Bell placed second in the Individual High School Male division.
Wayne County also competed with 13 middle school teams and 10 high school teams at the tournament.
Their next districtwide tournament is March 10th in London, KY. On March 17th, only the high school team will be participating in the KHSAA Regional tournament at Mercer County. The state tournament is being held on March 29-31 in Louisville and will feature elementary, middle, and high school archery programs.
