President of the Middle Cumberland Education Association Patricia Richardson drafted an application to receive a grant to put on a two day reading event at Walker Early Learning Center. The application was accepted, and the Association was given a grant of $400 thanks to her - and that of all those assisting in the event - hard work.
The event, which will take place March first and second, is being put together by the Middle Cumberland Education Association-Retired, the Monticello Women's Club, and Walker Early Learning Center. The program features a series of volunteer readers who will come to the classes and read Dr. Suess books to the children. Teachers will be contributing activities pertaining to the event as well, and students will receive Dr. Suess tote bags that contain a book and other materials they may need such as pens, pencils, and notebooks.
