Critz and Cook

The 2018 Wayne County Band Camp is in full swing. The members are working hard each day to perfect this year’s show – “Shattered.” The camp began on July 16th and is scheduled to end on August 3rd.

Along with Band Director and music teacher at the high school Andy Critz, this year featured the introduction of a new Assistant Band Director. Tyler Cook, who graduated from WCHS in 2013, has worked with band camp every year since his graduation. He spent the 2017-2018 school year as Assistant Band Directory in Harlan County, and has now taken up the same position at Wayne County Schools. Cook is also going to be an Arts and Humanities teacher at the high school beginning in the 2018-2019 school year.

Miranda Dishman is also working with the students, training the Color Guard. Dishman works with the group during band camp and has done so every year since her graduation from WCHS in 2015. She works with the students throughout the year while attending college.

Currently the camp plans to do a parent and peer performance on August 3rd. This performance will be on the field behind the Rodney Woods Gymnasium at 4:30 p.m. In case of rain, the performance will be held inside the WCHS auditorium.
