Lorenzo Linsey

Congratulations to Senior Quarterback Lorenzo Linsey who was voted District 6 and class 4A Player of the Year. The District Player of the Year voted on by district coaches from Knox Central, Rockcastle County, Russell County and Clay County. The class 4A Player of the Year voted on coaches from all of class 4A. Lorenzo posted impressive season totals through the air and on the ground. He threw for 2,846 yards and 32 touchdowns. He rushed for 499 yards and 11 touchdowns.

"Lorenzo is a great young man that is a leader on and off the field. He has had a great career with a 33 – 8 record as a starter. He played a valuable role in making our program one of the top in the state," said Wayne County Football Coach Shawn Thomspon.

Seniors German Ruiz and Stetson Simpson both played in the Best of the Bluegrass, voted on by a committee to be on the 40-man roster. This year’s game was played at Elizabethtown High School. Team Kentucky beat Greater Louisville Schools 17 – 3. German Played running back while Stetson played wide receiver.

"Both young men represented Wayne County well. I think having kids to receive all these honors says a lot of about our administration, football program, school, and community," said Coach Thompson.

Coach Shawn Thompson was voted 4A District 6 Coach of the Year once again this year. He coached the team to a 12-2 record, a District Championship, and a Region Championship.
