Wayne County came out and forced a turnover on the Rockets first possession. They scored immediately after with a 53- yard TD pass from Senior QB Lorenzo Linsey to WR Aubrey Weaver. They put the game on repeat, forcing another turnover and capped it off with another TD pass, Linsey to Weaver. Rock managed to get eight points on the board with a touchdown and two point conversion. This would stand until the third quarter when Wayne would put up 2 more scores to make the lead 28-8. (38 yard TD run by Linsey, 8 yard TD pass to Weaver). Rock came back with an answer, though, making it a 28-16 ball game. However, Linsey wasn’t finished yet as he punched another one in from 6 yards out. Rockcastle came up with another score and 2 point conversion, but would not be allowed anymore. PK Riley Woods had a stellar game with 5 made extra points and a 40 yard field goal to put the game out of reach. Congratulations to the Cards on the huge win!
They will now move on to the Regional Championship to face the (8-4) Louisville Western Warriors. Wayne County has won back to back Regions and look to three-peat. The Warriors are 1-0 against Wayne County all-time; the (11-1) Cards are looking to change that this Friday night. The game will kickoff at 7:30 Friday, November 17 at Louisville Western High School.
