It was 8th grade night for the Girls basketball team, on Monday 25th. We would like to say congratulations to the team on a successful season. The 42-19 win over Cumberland County, put their record at 13-4. They have 3 more games on the road to finish the season and then will be qualified for the Middle School State Tournament in October. We are so proud of our Lady Cards; their individual and team successes! Also, a thank you to Head Coach Angie Blevins and Assistant Coach Shannon Jones!
Mariah Bowlin is the daughter of Kristi and Alan Bowlin. She has been part of the Middle School basketball program for the past 6 years and has been a starter for 4 years. Her favorite middle school memory is winning the North Laurel game in triple overtime. Mariah would like to thank Coach Blevins for always pushing her, Coach Jones for always encouraging her, and her parents for all their support over the years!
Mallory Campbell is the daughter of Karen and Gary Campbell. She has been a part of the Middle School basketball program for the past 6 years and has been a starter for 4 years. Her favorite Middle School memory is the friendships and bonds she has made over the years with her teammates and coaches. Mallory would like to thank her dad for her success and for always believing in her and pushing her to become a better player. She hopes to become as great as him one day!
Jacklyn Crabtree is the daughter of Loretta and William Crabtree. She has been a part of the Middle School program for the past 4 years and a starter for 3 years. Her favorite Middle School memory is playing in the Kentucky Middle School State Tournament her 6th grade year. She would like to thank her coaches and parents for her success, for never giving up on her, and for always encouraging her to do her best to become a better player.
Mallory Gardner is the daughter of Julie and Chuck Ovington. She has participated in the Middle School basketball program for 2 years. Her favorite Middle School memory is bonding with her team. She would like to thank Coach Blevins and Coach Jones for all their support!
Amber Jones is the daughter of Shannon Jones. She has been a part of the Middle School basketball program for the past 5 years and a starter for 4 years. Her favorite Middle School memory is going to team camp at Lindsey Wilson College where her mom had played college basketball. Amber would like to thank her mom, Coach Shannon Jones for all her success and support over the years.
Kenzie Upchurch is the daughter of Jody and Webb Upchurch. She has participated in Middle School basketball for the 4 past years and has been a starter the past 3 years. Her favorite Middle School memory is going to team camp at Lindsey Wilson College. Kenzie would like to thank her dad for her success on the basketball floor.
Xaviea West is the daughter of Sandra and Christopher West. She has been a part of the Middle School basketball program for the past 3 years and worked hard to earn a starting position this year. Her favorite Middle School memory is when she sang the National Anthem for the first time at a middle school basketball game and nailed it! The crowd went crazy and the entire team ran to give her a huge hug. Xaviea would like to thank God first and foremost for all her success and to thank Him for her amazing coaches and wonderful parents.
Thank you to these 8th graders for all their hard work and dedication to our middle school basketball program over the past 6 years. These young ladies started their basketball career together as 2nd graders and is leaving the Middle School with an outstanding career win record. They finished in the Elite 8 as 6th graders in the Middle School State Tournament and have earned themselves a spot in this year’s state tournament which will be held in Lexington on October 20th through 22nd. These players are all continuing their careers at the High School level this upcoming season and we want to wish them the best of luck!
