This Saturday, August the 19th, the Football Cards will go to Danville High to play Woodford County in the annual Bob Allen Pigskin Classic Bowl games. There are four schools in the Pigskin Classic each year. This year Wayne County will play the first game against Woodford County. The second game will be the new school in Lexington, Frederick Douglas, versus Danville High. During the break between the first game and the second game, the crowning of the queen will occur. One student was selected by each head football coach of their school to participate in the candacy. WCHS Senior Bailey Wright was chosen to represent Wayne County. The process of choosing the queen consists of a panel of judges who interviewed each girl. This past Sunday, August 13th, there was a banquet at the Danville Country Club for a few members from each team and their coaches, bowl game sponsors, queen candidates and their parents. During the dinner, the queen candidates were asked one question each in front of all who were there. After that, a few speakers came to inspire the players on how important it is to be a part of their team, how to be an advocate for their team, and how their friends on the team will become more like family because of what they endure together in practice and under the stadium lights.
