Wayne County Area Technology students and Wayne County High School students got a thorough glimpse of all the interesting subject areas being taught nearby at Somerset KCTCS at the Road Show special event held at home. Students visited booths pertaining to all kinds of fields including everything from airplane mechanics to cosmetology and everything in between.
“Wayne County ATC hosted the Somerset KCTCS Road Show on April 1st. Students were able to meet program leaders as well as instructors from many of the technical program offerings from Somerset KCTCS. Students were able to learn about scholarships, work ready grants as well as program requirements,” explained Wayne County ATC Principal John Kinnett.
There were over 20 programs represented, including the Clinton Center that is also located nearby. The folks from the neighboring post-secondary facilities did a wonderful job showcasing their program and sharing them with students during the school day. All the ATC students and several classes of high school students benefitted from a chance to visit the exhibition. Tables were set up for exhibitors in the main lobby, the Industrial Maintenance Technology lab and outdoors in the back parking lot. Students even got to check out a parked helicopter which they can learn more about through the aeronautical maintenance program at Somerset KCTCS.
Kinnett said, “I was thrilled to see the number of programs and instructors involved in the Road Show. It’s been a few years since we have been able to host Somerset KCTCS (due to Covid) and as usual they were on their A game. Students had a good time talking with the Somerset staff. I look forward to making this activity even larger next year.“
“We had students who had no idea what their post-secondary options were say they were exited to hear about SCC program offerings,“ concluded Kinnett.
