Two Wayne County Wrestlers had the honor of competing at the state tournament

Opening ceremony for wrestlers

   The Wayne County Wrestling team traveled to George Rogers Clark on Friday, February 25th and Saturday the 26th to compete in the State Wrestling Tournament at George Rogers Clark High School. Eighth Grader Coalton Kilburn at 138 lb. and Junior Colin Tucker at 126 lb. competed for Wayne County.

     Congratulations to Colin Tucker who placed 7th overall in the 126 lb. weight class sixteen-man bracket. This marked the third time Colin Tucker has medaled in the state tournament. This also marks the 27th year in a row Wayne County Wrestling has had a state placer. The teamed placed 37th overall in the 68 team field. 

      The Mat Cardinals finishes the season 17 - 4   in Dual meets they won the Tates Creek Duals. They were Runner-up at Border Wars, 3rd at Sectional Duals, State Dual qualifier which they could not attend due to bad weather, Runner up at Pirate Invitational, 4th at Regional Tournament, and 17th at the first round of State.

        The Mat Cards will graduate one senior this year, Nick Green.
