On March 15th, 2019, several Wayne County FBLA students traveled to compete. The students attended the FBLA Region 2 Conference at Western Kentucky University for the first time - previously, the group had been part of Region 6 and had traveled to EKU for the conference.  Some of the students had competed in production tests prior to the conference, and many competed the day of on the university campus. Students were put the test in a variety of business-related categories, utilizing the skills they had learned in classes at the Wayne County Area Technology Center.

Of the competing students, twelve placed at the regional level. These students included: Cas Powell, Kacie Rose, Keyleigh Stringer, Lauren Hughes, Leah Bell, Myles Gregory, Nicole Hesse, Chloye Rice, Rachael Allen, Renee Allen, Rachel Rains, and Riley Jones. These students received their trophies on stage in front of their peers, being aptly rewarded for their achievements. In total, the Wayne County chapter of FBLA took home seven first place trophies, five second place trophies, and two third place trophies as well as a valuable educational experience for every member involved. To add to the impact the Wayne County FBLA was leaving on their first year in Region 2, Adviser Robert Allen was nominated as an Outstanding Adviser of Region 2.

The students who placed at the region conference will soon be attending the Kentucky FBLA State Leadership Conference. Students will compete in their events once more for this conference, and if they place here they will be given the opportunity to continue and compete at a national level. The State Leadership Conference will take place over the course of April 15th-17th. Good luck to the FBLA members moving on to compete at the SLC!
