Recently, the Wayne County ATC Chapter of Future Business Leaders of America traveled to Eastern Kentucky University for their annual Regional Conference. At the conference, students within region six compete with one another in various business related tests and presentations to advance to the state conference. This includes but is not limited to topics of financial math, accounting, speaking, presentation skills, administrative and technological knowledge, computer application capabilities, and basic business wisdom.
The competing students chose their competitions early in the year. Since then, they worked hard studying for tests and sharpening their skills. Only the best would advance to state conference, and the WC FBLA members were determined to earn their spots. It also encouraged many students to step outside of their comfort zones, as presentations and competition in general can be difficult for many. The competitions give students the chance to present their soft skills and learn from their mistakes.
In total, the WC FBLA chapter took twenty participating students. They all put forth their best effort, and can be certain that they left an impression on the judges of their events. Of the twenty, seven members will be advancing to the State FBLA Conference.
The State Conference will take place at the Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky. The conference will be held April 16-18th. Those who place at the State Conference will be given the opportunity to compete on a national level. They will advance to the National Conference. National Conference will take place from June 28th to July 1st in Baltimore, Maryland.
Good luck to those students participating in the State Conference!
