The Wayne County High School JROTC Raider Team has really worked hard over the summer and into the fall to be at a competitive edge necessary to compete in the physically and mentally demanding activities they endure as they compete at different competitions. So far this year the Raiders have won a second place in the Obstacle Course at Clark Range TN, a first place finish at Eastern Kentucky University in the One Rope Bridge Category and taken second overall at Clay County High School Tiger Battalion Raider Challenge.
This year’s team commanded by Cadet Command Sergeant Major Trent McGuire, with team executive Officer Taylor Bell and team members C/Major Adrian Martin, C/ Major Harley Baldwin, C/2LT Ethan Morrow, C/ Brooklyn Bray, C/Destanie McGuire, CSGT. Ziyon Deboer, C/Pvt.Tyler Casada, C/1SG Cameron Walters along with cadets Zeth Denney, Logan Vaughn, Luis Quejano, Nathan Baber, Sierra Stacy, Keisha Brown, John Kidwell, Donovan Bray, Kane Slender, Andrew York, Daniel Ward, and Leah Ramsey, have greatly improved their mental focus and physical ability and have demonstrated that ‘hard work’ does pay off if you expect to win and compete with some of the best JROTC Raider Teams in the 7th Brigade and through out South Central Kentucky and North Central Tennessee.
The local JROTC Raider Team is the backbone of the Wayne County cadet core and is always up for a challenge. They not only perform exceptionally well in competitive events but do an excellent job performing when presenting the Garrison Flag at football games, too.
“We are very proud of these young cadets and wish them continued success as they progress through the school year. The Raiders next competition will be at Montgomery County on October 28th. “RAIDERS LEAD THE WAY,” said Instructor 1SG George Snyder.
