Wayne County places in top three at two levels in State High Attendance Day competiton attendance

Wayne County Schools placed in the top three at two levels in the Region 14 State High Attendance Contest recently. Each of the five local schools held special events or promotions in regard to the event that stresses the importance of attendance.

Commissioner proclaims Safe Schools Week Oct. 16-22 pruitt

Commissioner of Education Stephen Pruitt signs a proclamation declaring Oct. 16-22 as Safe Schools Week in Kentucky. Safe Schools Week is designed to raise public awareness and improve the safety of our schools by educating students, staff and community members about bullying prevention, conflict resolution and relationship building.

Wayne County School District announces participation in afterschool meal services Veggies from the school garden

After school supper meals are available without charge to students at the following participating schools:

  • Wayne Co. Middle School /95 Champion Dr.  Monticello, KY 42633 (Mon. - Thurs.); 3:15 p.m.-4:00 p.m. 
  • Bell Elementary, 278 Kenny Davis Blvd., Monticello, KY  42633 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. 
  • Walker Early Learning Center 1080 South Main St. Monticello, KY  42633 (Mon. & Thurs.); 5:30 – 6:15 p.m.

Guild member Betty Rains served the school system for 19 years in the Nutrition Services department and her full size quilt includes 30 blocks of schoool tops she wore while serving local students. Thanks for being Cardinal Proud with this lovely heirloom career quilt!

First Responders Appreciation Night was held October 14 when Wayne County defeated Russell County 59-30 first responders

Local First Responders were highlighted during the football game Friday night. First Responders and their spouses were admitted free of charge to the game where they were honored before the game.

Wayne County Schools Health Services begin preparation for flu season shot

With flu season approaching the appropriate measures will be administered to prevent illness in the school system. Employees will begin receiving flu shots one week after the return from fall break.
