Wayne County School Garden teaches students the value of a ‘green thumb’

If you walk by your local FFA garden you will see a variety of colorful vegetables ranging from tomatoes to corn to cabbage. It is not uncommon to see high school students working in the garden during the school day as part of their family consumer science block or agriculture class or a Kentucky social studies period.

School time prompts safety reminders

With the start of another school year, drivers are reminded to be on the lookout for students who may be walking or bicycling to or from school, waiting for the school bus or who have just exited the bus. The National Transportation Safety Administration offers these reminders for drivers.

Wayne County Preschool prepare children to be kindergarten ready….Professional educators use state-of-the-art curriculum

Let’s start at the beginning. Wayne County Schools are working to reach the youngest children in the community and are anxious to provide preschoolers with a rich curriculum to help them become kindergarten ready.

State mandated bus evacuation drill held first full week of school during the day

Small groups of students participated in safety training at each school building to prepare them for emergency procedures should they ever become necessary on field trips, extra-curricular activities, and regular bus routes.

Go Cards Awards announced at opening day kick off for staff

Go Cards Award winners' professionalism was celebrated on the opening day for the staff. Superintendent Wayne Roberts told the educators it is the professionalism of each individual staff person blended together that makes the team work, that in turn allows the student to blossom into a successful graduate.

Attendance levels off with 3,200 students

At the beginning of the first full week of school, attendance data has revealed that the enrollment leveled out from the start of school and there were just 15 fewer students present, compared to the fourth day of classes last year.
