WCHS Orientation Open House benefits new students

The Wayne County High School orientation open house date is set for Monday, August 8th. New students and incoming freshmen will benefit the most from this event scheduled from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Student mentors will be on hand to accompany students who need directions to various locations inside the building, as they learn where their classes will be held.

21st Century Program receives special recognition at July District Board Meeting

Wayne County Schools 21st Century Coordinator Katherine Kidd shared highlights of the seventh local summer camp she directed which has continually proven to boost student learning.

Wayne County High School continues to expand college options through “Cardinal University”

The Wayne County Board of Education approved the “Cardinal University” initiative in a move to continue to customize each students’ high school education at their monthly meeting, July 14th.

School clerical staff benefits from training

The Wayne County School District Clerical Staff recently had a training session at the local Area Technology Center. A variety of trainings and professional development are offered during the summer to teachers and staff members.

Retirement Reception 2015-2016 held to honor employees

A celebration was held for the Wayne County School District employees retiring after the 2015-2016 school year, prior to June's monthly board of education meeting. Each of the retirees were presented with a plaque for their years of service totaling 475 years to the students of Wayne County Schools and Monticello Independent.

Delta Dental of Kentucky's Making Smiles Happen Program launches a Statewide Children's Oral Health Surveillance Initiative

The Making Smiles Happen Surveillance Initiative will screen the oral health of 6,000 students in Kentucky over an 18 month period.
