Wayne County Band Members share Holiday Music at December Board of Education Meeting

Members of the Wayne County High School Band shared music from the holiday season at the beginning of the meeting. The band representatives included: Staisha Keith, Maggie Stinson, Halen Pharis, Samantha Criswell, Joe Nieto, Nathaniel Watson, Brittany Sherman, McCade Kelly, Natalie Sparks, Ethan Huffaker, Shawn McCartt, Evan Taylor, and Nik Davis  They invited the board members and the community to attend their annual holiday concert on Monday, December 17 th at 7:00 p.m. in the Pickrell Auditorium.


The band has had a busy first semester learning and performing their marching band program “Shattered” which lead them to
participate in the Tenth 4A West Quarter Finals at the conclusion of their season. They competed throughout the fall with one of their best
performances at the Corbin contest where they received a third overall for the entire band, along with an overall best percussion award. The
drumline provided an impressive program at the Lights on After School event, as well.


Most recently, a record number of students have been selected to the Lake Cumberland Music Education Association All District Band
following auditions. There are 15 local students who are honored to be participating in the workshop and performance on January 11-12.
The band also participates in special events like the local Christmas parade. The Pep Band is providing music at home basketball
games and these students are headed to the Doubleheader girls and boys basketball games getting started. The next step for the musicians will be concert band season in the spring.
