WCHS ATC students in Wayne County Skills USA Club compete in State Competition in Louisville

Wayne County Area Technology Center students from the Wayne County Skills USA Club traveled to compete in state competition at Louisville Kentucky on April 11th.Over 800 students competed at the statewide event. Ten Wayne County ATC students competed in a broad range of competitions that tested their trade skill levels and leadership skills.

Congratulations to the following local students who competed which included: Wayne Tucker, Nick Alley, Whitney Lester, Thomas Simpson, Alex Crabtree, Ethan Prince, Josias Conde, Arin Pitman, Trevor Gregory, and Dallas Russell. Two of the students received awards: Trevor Gregory received first place in Cabinetry and Josias Conde received third place in Job Skills Demo.

Skills USA serves high schools and college students who are preparing for careers in trade occupations and for further education. Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry with the common goal of ensuring a skilled workforce.  The competition side of Skills USA brings out the best in students and allows them to practice their skills abroad. This also helps students meet employers.
