Monticello Elementary Student Leadership Team helped coordinate canned food drive in December

Recently Monticello Elementary has implemented a new Student Leadership Team. This team strives to provide the school with a better environment. With a total of 21 students involved, the team features seven students from each grade in the school. The club partakes in various projects to reach its ultimate goal of improving Monticello Elementary for all students. In March, the team plans to host a literacy event centered around the school’s therapy dog, Winston.

To become part of the Monticello Elementary Student Leadership Team, there is an acceptance process. Students must complete an application, and in that application they will include an essay about their involvement and impact on students and the school community. This essay is then reviewed by several anonymous judges. The students for the team are chosen based on their responses in this essay rather than any personal information given in the application.
