Iota Chapter of Delta Kappa Ganma Society International brings supplies to new teachers retired teachers

Teachers appreciated a nice gesture from the local chapter of educators from Wayne and neighboring counties who donated bags of teaching supplies. Delta Kappa Gamma Society International promotes professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. New teachers were encouraged by their support.

Over four-hundred first and second graders from Bell Elementary got to discover the joy of gardening. They had eaten fresh broccoli in the cafeteria and then learned where it came from at the four-acre School Garden.

High Achieving High School and Middle School Students Honored In September Board Meeting September Recognition

At the September 12th Board of Education meeting an outstanding group of students were honored for their involvemnet and attendance at summer enrichment programs and camps. Also, students of Wayne County benefitted from the summer 21st Century camp. We are proud of our Cards!

Grandparents enjoyed snacks, book fairs, playgrounds, and singing activities with children at both schools.

High Attendance Day set at Wayne County Schools Perfect Attendance

September is Attendance Awareness month across the United States, and High Attendance Day in Kentucky is on Wednesday, September 20. Kentucky’s High Attendance Day is sponsored by the Kentucky Directors of Pupil Personnel (KDPP) organization which gives regional and state prizes with funds that go directly to the winning schools for elementary, middle and high school. All kinds of local events are being planned for this exciting day for students at Wayne County Schools. Be sure and be in attendance at school this Wednesday!  

 

Wayne County Looks Ahead to the Homecoming Game Against Harlan County Wayne County tacklers

The Cards are hungry after losing a tough one against the Boyle County Rebels. It was the team's first loss of the season. However, they look to redeem themselves as the Harlan County Black Bears roll into town. The homecoming game will take place at 7:30 Friday, September 15th at Jewell Field. Come out and cheer on your Wayne County Cardinals! The crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen will take place at halftime of the game. Also, alumni from Wayne County High School and Monticello High School Class of 1998 will be honored during the game. The Reunion will be held in the Wayne County High School cafeteria from 6 p.m. to halftime of the game.
