Wayne County Hosts Regional School Nurse Coordinators Boot Camp Training nursing group

District Health Coordinators from Kentucky gathered for training with KDE school health consultants and veteran health coordinators recently on the Wayne County School campus in the Turner cafeteria. The meeting focused on tips to orientate new health coordinators on their roles in schools. Topics addressed included: new infinite campus reports to help nurses meet the new DPH immunization requirements,coordinating policies and health services with state and federal law, data collection requirements, and end-of-year reporting.  

Board of Education members learn about share fair Teachers representing Share Fair

Wayne County was well represented at the 19th annual ‘Share Fair Celebration…Appreciating Educators and Literacy’ with 48 Wayne County educators participating in a dozen presentations in Louisville on April 21st. The Fair is the culminating event where teachers gather to present and discuss their yearlong Literacy Action Plans they have been working on throughout the school year as part of the Kentucky Reading Project or Adolescent Literacy Project.

It is time to nominate outstanding individuals who are employed by Wayne County Schools for the Go Cards Awards ceremony, which will be held on the opening day for the staff in August.

National Teacher Appreciation Day, also known as National Teacher Day, is observed on the Tuesday of the first full week in May.  In 2018, National Teacher Day will take place on May 8th.  This day is part of Teacher Appreciation Week, which is the first full week in May of each year. Wayne County is celebrating Teachers and Staffs May 7-11th..

The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day  as a day for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.”

46 Years Celebrating National School Nurse Day Nurse Appreciation

It is time to celebrate the specialty practice of school nursing! In 1972, the National Association of School Nurses (NASN) created National School Nurse Day to recognize school nurses and acknowledge their role in the educational setting. NASN applauds the contributions school nurses make every day to improve the safety, health, and academic success of all students.
