The Wayne County Board of Education had a heft agenda for their October meeting. The Alt 32 architect working on the new Area Technology Center, Mike Sparkman, unveiled the latest drawings of what the ATC is expected to look like. The Board reviewed the proposed drawings and materials approving this step in the process. The ATC is expected to be functioning by fall of 2019.

The agenda featured this month’s special recognition. The Board honored Cadet Sergeant Daniel J. Ward for earning the Distinguished Junior Cadet Leadership Award at Camp Bluegrass JCLC 2018 this summer. Daniel is a Sophomore and a member of the Raider Team. He is the son of Rhonda and Mark Ward.

This is the second year in a row that Wayne County has earned this prestigious award, a testament to the exceptional academic and personal character Wayne County cadets exemplify.

Cadet Sergeant Ward was selected to represent his school on the first day of camp. On the last day of camp he was selected to represent Wayne County on the Battalion Leadership Board. He was one of the 13 cadets representing schools on the board. They took a 68-question Classroom Performance System Test and he received the highest score with an 81%. His closest peers academically speaking were from Montgomery County High School and Rockcastle County High School.

First Sergeant Snyder reported that Cadet Ward’s appearance before the Board was exceptional!
